Foundation Server 2008 R2  Cant access as print server from any computer Not running Windows 7
To start out i am new to servers - I set up Windows Foundation Server 2008 R2 using a basic Workgroup and installed the print server Role. Works great with Laptops running Windows 7 Pro. However, computers running Windows XP Pro and Mac OS 10.5 can see and share files over the workgroup(useing password protected access); can see the shared printer, but can NOT print to the printer(directly) or printer spooler. When I attempt to install the additional driver for x86 (assuming this is needed for XP Pro) I get errors that the driver can not be found or is incompatible ???. This is the same driver disc used to install the Local driver on each machine. Is this a limitation of WSF 2008 R2 ?

Hi, Thanks for the post. This issue will occur if the required printer driver has not been installed on the Windows Server 2008 R2 as Additional printer driver. For more information about Additional driver, please check http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc732946(v=ws.10).aspx For detailed steps to install printer driver, please refer to the following thread: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservergen/thread/be9029ec-67d1-4980-a380-076741394b86#_Q5:_How_can_1 As for why Win7 client could work properly, it is because that a lot of printer drivers have been built in the system by default.
